Pamela S. Whitten, Ph.D. joined the faculty at Michigan State University in 1998 and is recognized internationally for research in telemedicine and its applications to improve patient care, delivery of health care services and education. Her funded research has enabled her to test innovative telemedicine interventions in a wide array of community settings. In addition to assessing outcomes and impacts of telemedicine, she also conducts research examining technology-based mediated communication to reach underserved populations, such as the creation of health websites. Since 2009, Dr. Whitten has also served as Dean and Professor, College of Communication Arts and Sciences, Michigan State University.
