Nurses at hospital

Nursing

The nursing profession is the largest component of the healthcare workforce. In the U.S., more than 3 million nurses deliver patient-centered care. Out of all care providers, nurses spend the most time with patients. Nurses play a vital role in the delivery of safe care with the aims to optimize health, prevent illness and injury, alleviate suffering, and serve as advocates for patients and their families. The rising demand for nursing care stems from the increased complexity of healthcare, the rise in chronic disease, and an aging population in need of more care.

Nursing studies that we are seeking to fund will be designed to transform the practice of nursing or patient outcomes that are sensitive to nursing care. We are interested in the direct care effect of nurses.
